If you missed the first night of Exposé here is a glimpse at everything that went down!
We went all out for this special first night of Exposé! Complete with a Red Carpet photo booth, white chocolate covered strawberries, other delicious catered treats and delights by our wonderful Rochelle and team, not to mention the sweet mini cupcakes by the lovely Jessica Kelley. (Find your photos here!)
We transformed the entire room complete with a runway and opened the night with DJ John Kunkel as our wonderful ushers seated everyone. Andross pumped everyone up with his cover of Moves Like Jagger! We were treated to a heart pumping fashion show with several amazing and stylish volunteers as our models. A racy video featuring the song “Turn Me On” opened followed by our wonderful and adorable MC’s, Kelli and Jordan, got us ready for what was coming up next.
Every element of the night transitioned into the next seamlessly and had the audience wondering what was coming up next!
As Justin took the stage he gave a brief overview of the history of sexuality and the historical cycles of sexual revolution (repression, rebellion, reformation, and royalty) from Ancient tribes to various centuries and from Naturalism to Materialism, and the Roaring Twenties to the Sixties and Seventies bringing us to the modern views on sexuality in our present day where sex is king.
Justin presented several sobering statistics and both national statistics as well as stats from our own Co+op survey which revealed our current reality, both in and out of the Church. The sad truth being that there is no clear distinction between those inside the church and those outside. People are engaging in sexual activity while saying one thing out of the bedroom and saying the very opposite while under the covers.
“Everyone thinks the Bible’s teaching on sex is evil, irrelevant, or impossible - including most of you guys, so let’s assume that’s true.”
Then, stunning everyone in the room, Justin tossed the Bible in his hands across the room, and proceeded to present “10 Steps to the Best Sex Possible”.* (You have to watch the video)
After presenting these magazine cover style ” tips”, very culturally provocative and explicit so-called suggestions, Justin asked these final questions:
- What do you do if fully liberated frequency, variety and passion isn’t enough??
- What if there’s something more?
Justin walked over and picked up the Bible he had thrown earlier that night and said it one final time,
There’s got to be something more.
And with that the gathering concluded.
(There was also a fun dance party and lots of hanging out that went down that night!)
*Justin posted later that night on his Facebook page that he wanted to throw up the entire time he taught this portion of his message. Our entire leadership team and pastors prayed over the content of this message and the point was to make people think about their beliefs and more importantly their actions.
We wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped make this night possible, seriously each gathering at Co+op doesn’t happen without you as part of the community, giving and contributing. We had so many amazing people to thank that we made a post just for them!
